Kari Rivera attended California State University, Long Beach where she received her Bachelor’s degree, multiple subject teaching credential and a Master of Arts degree in Education for Curriculum and Instruction. She has been teaching since 2006 and has taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Third Grade. The fall of 2013 begins her fourth year as a First Grade teacher at The Accelerated School (TAS). While at TAS, she has been trained in Project G.L.A.D. strategies, Kagen strategies, OARS (Online Assessment Reporting System), teaching math to English Language Learners, enVision Math, Imagine It!, ELD Portfolios, Thinking Maps, and Accelerated Reader. Mrs. Rivera is an active contributor to the TAS Professional Learning Community and has served on the English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) and English Language Development (ELD) Committee. Mrs. Rivera takes pride in collaborating with her grade level team and supporting her colleagues with ELD and Project G.L.A.D. strategies across grade levels. She pushes her students to work hard and achieve their goals on a daily basis, both in and outside of the classroom.
