Amanda Martinez obtained her B.A. in Fine Art at UCLA in 1998, and after several years of extensive international travel she returned to southern California where in 2002 she began her educational career as an enrichment art teacher to elementary and secondary students in the San Gabriel Valley. In 2004 she worked in central Mexico in a dual immersion school as an English teacher to students Pre-K to high school and in 2006 completed her multiple subject teaching credential and began teaching 6th grade at the Accelerated School. Ms. Martinez has been teaching Kindergarten at the Accelerated School for seven years, and has been strongly dedicated to improving the level of teacher voice and student discourse at the school site. In 2013 Ms. Martinez completed a M.Ed. in Urban teaching from UCLA, in an effort to build strong relationships within the TAS community that will foster student academic success and encourage teacher leadership.
